2. 1910 Census: Victor & Irma DeBouver (“De Bomer”) living in Chicago. Victor listed as Carpenter/Builder, both spoke English & could read & write. Both Victor & Irma (and all of their parents) were born in Belgium. Papa’s paternal grandfather & grandmother

3. NY Passenger List: Christor Stergios born 1891 in Argos, Greece arrived in New York (able to read & write) on 4/20/1912 on a ship named the “Macedonia.” The Macedonia was in service from 1912-1932. Its maiden voyage was on 4/5/1912, so Chris Stergios was on the ship on one of its very first voyages. The ship was sunk as a merchant ship in Syra harbor during war with Turkey & was refloated/sold to Dutch in 1916, sold again in 1921, & dismantled in 1932. Papa’s maternal grandfather

4. WWI Draft Card: Chris Stergios born 9/7/1891 lived in Hammond, Indiana & was a bartender. He is listed as having a wife & three children and as being short with black hair & eyes. Papa’s maternal grandfather

5. 1930 Census: Chris Stergios listed as living in Indiana, co-owning/working in/living at a restaurant with Andrew Stergios (b:1893, 2 yrs. younger than Chris ) & a partner named George Karaber. Chris Stergios is listed as married (married at age 18 in 1909) Papa’s paternal grandfather & grandmother

6. 1920 Census: Marie Stergios born in 1912 in Illinois is listed as a step-daughter (along with two other step-daughters Anna Stergios born in 1911 & Loretta Stergios born in 1914. The head of the household is listed as Thomas Christos born 1887 in Greece. Thomas’ parents were both born in Greece too. Also listed is Thomas’ wife Mary G. Christos born in Illinois in 1894, Harmon Utley (a lodger), & Mary OConnor (an aunt) born in Illinois in 1871. It says Mary OConnor’s parents were both born in Illinois as well. Papa’s Mother

7. 1910 Census DeBouver family (listed as “He Bonver”) Vital DeBouver (He Bonver) came to the U.S. from Belgium in 1907 & he was a carpenter/builder who could read & write. 2 years later his wife, Roselie DeBouver (He Bonver) & his son Oscar came from Belgium to the U.S.. Roselie could read & write as well. Papa’s grandfather’s brother (Victor DeBouver’s brother)

8. Vital DeBouver’s Naturalization Record: Vital DeBouver born 5/6/1884 in Belgium arrived in the U.S. on 5/29/1907 & was naturalized as a citizen on 9/23/1919. Papa’s grandfather’s brother (Victor DeBouver’s brother)

9. 1930 Census Leitner family, Father Joe Leitner listed as born in Yugoslavia (& both of his parents were born in Yugoslavia). His job is listed as some type of “presser” at a medicine shop & he did speak English. His wife Elisabeth’s parents were both born in Yugoslavia. All of Joe & Elisabeth Leitner’s children were born in Illinois except for the 2 nd to the oldest (Frank) who was born in Michigan. Grandma’s family (father, mom, & siblings)
