The shift towards counter insurgency and peace keeping operations over the past decade has resulted in greater demand for soldiers to be deployed with a less-than-
lethal capability to bridge the gap between verbal warning and opening fire.
This workshop will provide an interactive session examining the current options available to soldiers and how these capabilities will be improved over the next 18-24
months. Topics for discussion will include:
w Suitability of independent or integrated solutions (i.e. under slung non-lethal options)
w Increasing effectiveness of non-lethal systems whilst reducing chance of fatalities
w Flexible solutions during engagements - Transferring from non-lethal to lethal
w Challenges of making next-generation less-than-lethal weapons man portable and lightweight
w Simplifying the test and evaluation process
