The text states that “the enforcement landscape has
broadened — not without controversy — to include state and
local actors in the enforcement of federal immigration
laws. Furthermore, “Federal authorities have also
authorized certain state and local actors to perform
immigration enforcement functions under the 287(g)
program, and DHS recently announced plans to move toward a
nationwide data-sharing program with state and local jails
through the Secure Communities program.”
