1. It clicks with Eva
Hi I’m Eva and if there’s one thing I learned about computers is
that over the years a lot of people have become afraid of a PC
because of the BIOS.
But I was wondering if building your own PC still leads to so much
frustration, you could literally eat your mainboard.
Today I’ll take a look at a system built around a MSI X79A-GD65
(8D). This new mainboard supports Intel’s latest Core i7 CPUs for
the LGA2011 socket and are the fastest thing I can currently buy
for my computer
I come from a couple of year old computer and as you can see
below, this is what I mean with frustrating. How can I ever find out
where I need to go if I want to overclock? Or change my boot
device?

2. But when I booted my X79A-GD65 (8D) I was pleasantly
surprised! No longer I had to stare at that boring blue
screen, I was greeted by a nice graphical interface which
was informative, responded fluidly and in general very
clearly told me what I could do. I agree with
whatVortez.net said: “Click BIOS II is very good, perhaps
now it has matured it could be said that it is one of, if not
the best on the market at present” –

3. As you can see, this makes me MUCH happier
No longer a wall of text but a nice graphical interface with clear information and easy (mouse)
navigation.

4. I’ve got my system built-up, everything is connected but now
my question is, what can MSI ClickBIOS II do for me?
First off, I’d like to say that all screenshots from ClickBIOS II
were taken by pressing the F12 button. This will save a
screenshot to my USB stick (Ha! Try that with a normal BIOS!).

5. Talking about USB, I have my Windows 7 backup image on a
USB drive, how do I easily boot from my USB drive instead of
my SATA3 disk?
That looks simple! In ClickBIOS II an easy drag and drop interface from which I can simply select from
which device I want to boot, Hard Drive or USB stick, DVD or over the network.

6. Another cool feature is PCI Express Gen3. I don’t have a graphics card yet that can do PCI Express Gen3,
but my X79A-GD65 (8D) is prepared!

7. All the settings I need when I go overclocking are found on the
OC page. Everything I could possible think of adjusting I can
find here. Voltages, Frequencies, Multipliers can all be set.
Features like the easy one second overclocking OC Genie II
can also be enabled here and of course Extreme Memory
Profiles when I want to have something that’s faster than
DDR3-1600 
OH and remember everyone! If you’re going to do extreme
overclocking make sure you wear some form of protection like
goggles for your eyes and gloves.
Better safe than sorry!

8. Of course, you don’t have to be an extreme overclocker to simply get a lot more than you paid for.
Simply press the OC Genie button, boot your system and check how easy it is to get free performance
If you push the OC Genie button, it will light up bright blue to show you it’s active

9. Last but not least, MSI’s ClickBIOS II features some very easy tools, like a drive backup application. MSI’s
“Live Update” tool which allows me to update Drivers, BIOS files and Firmware of all MSI hardware in my
computer, without booting into Windows and M-Flash.
M-Flash not only is an easy way to update
your current BIOS, it’s also the most
simple way to actually test a BIOS before
you want to flash it. Just put the BIOS file
on a USB stick, boot your computer and
yM-Flash will actually load the BIOS from
the USB stick, without disturbing the BIOS
files on your mainboard.
Can you say easy BIOS recovery? 

10. I hope you’ve learned today that you don’t have to be afraid of a BIOS anymore. MSI ClickBIOS II is a
good-looking, flexible and smooth UEFI BIOS that can do everything you expect and even has some tools
like HDD backup and M-Flash that makes my time with the X79A-GD65 (8D) much easier!
