Role: Software Engineer
Job description: The role of a Software Engineer is to develop and maintain the Traderoot e-Commerce Platform by
developing new features in accordance with specifications as set out by the Chief Engineer and address issues as they arise.

Minimum education required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Desired skills and experience:
6+ years continuous Java development using Java 6 and above.
SQL experience and good understanding of stored procedures and other DBMS concepts.
XML, XSD, Web Services knowledge.
Technically sound.
Understanding of client-server architecture
Able to understand and work with linear protocols and file formats.
Must be able to learn, consume and understand the payment industry and the Traderoot e-Commerce Platform in a short
amount of time.

Job requirements
Highly desired skills:
The candidate to have payment industry experience. Have already worked with the various protocols and concepts like online
transaction switching and forwarding, ISO8583, transaction clearing, issuing and value-added services.
Purpose:
To develop and maintain the Traderoot e-Commerce Platform by enhancing the product as required due to project requirements
or general product stability and function. To address issues as they arise. Bring fresh ideas and thinking to the Traderoot e-
Commerce Platform, may it be in the form of how various technologies can be used efficiently within the Platform or new ideas
on the future of the product.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Develop the Traderoot e-Commerce Platform using established code standards and methodologies.
Ensure good code quality and best practices are maintained.

Unit testing of enhancements and issues before releasing to Product for QA
Working with Product, Project and Support in issue resolution and QA support.
Where applicable, improve legacy code with the aim of bringing up to current standards and efficiency.
Aim to research ways to improve the Traderoot e-Commerce Platform whether it is by introducing a new technology
that is relevant for the application or design pattern for code efficiency.
Maintain a good and sound development environment and ensure that all code is managed in accordance with current
SDLC principles.
Assist with any future planning for the engineering department in terms of new methodologies and tooling that is
required.
Provide client support in troubleshooting and addressing critical issues in client environments when other lines of
support are not available or not suitable to address the issue at hand. This would require after hours availability.
Assist the Chief Engineer in various tasks related to the engineering department.
Provide assistance and support to fellow engineers, may it be coding support, Traderoot e-Commerce Platform support,
etc.
Accountability in task resolution and seeing the process through from when the task is logged until it is resolved.
