This keynote presentation highlighted the strategic plan for NORCAT', one of Canada's pre-eminent innovation and health and training centres focused on driving economic and social prosperity in Canada.

Over the past six months, we have engaged customers, staff,
entrepreneurs, corporations, partners, community leaders, government,
academic and research institutions, and market researchers to understand
their perspectives on the role of NORCAT has played and should play in the
future.

lost time injury costs more
than $106,500 per incident;
at that rate the estimated
cost of workplace accidents,
injuries, and illnesses in
2009 alone was nearly $7
billion.

Globally, about 2.2 million people die every year from occupational
accidents and diseases, while some 270 million suffer serious non-fatal
injuries and another 160 million fall ill for shorter or longer periods from
work-related causes.
