Question 6
1. 6.What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Adobe InDesign
This was a key program in the
construction of my music magazine. It
allowed my to create my cover page,
contents page and article in a
sophisticated style.
This program has many tools that with
induction and practice (through my
preliminary task), I felt by the time it came
to produce my music magazine, I was able
to use this efficiently.
3. Adobe Photoshop
This program is one I was only briefly
introduced to. I used it’s background
erasing tools to subtract the
background away from the images in my
preliminary task. When I came to use
this tool on my music magazine images, I
felt the practice had lead me enabling
using the tool more efficiently with
better results.
4. Digital Camera
I used a digital camera to take all the
images I used for my music magazine, as
well as other props like the addition of a
lamp for brightness on the face of my artist
‘Ella’.
The reason behind this was that I felt other
camera devices, such as a mobile phone
camera, would not give as good quality, and
would therefore tarnish the overall
presentation of my magazine.
5. Blogger
I used Blogger regularly throughout the
progress of my music magazine production.
I used my account to upload all drafts of my
production, as well as drawn drafts, image
selection, target audience and music magazine
pages research, etc.
I found it simple, easy, and quick to use,
displaying my progress in a sophisticated and
professional presentation, through a diary-like
manner.
6. Prezi
Prezi is another online application that I have
had to get accustomed with as I used this, not
only to display my music magazine research,
but also during my evaluation.
This alternate way of presenting certain aspects of my
evaluation was chosen as using the online site was quick
and easy. It’s inventive designs allow my content to be
displayed in a visually different and appealing manner, which
I consider a breath of fresh air from the sometimes bland
presentation of continuous essay-like layouts.
By using creative tools such as arrows, it can convey
content in such a way that can be more easily understood.
7. PowerPoint/Slideshare
I used PowerPoint to display some aspects of
my progress in the production of my
magazine, such as the results of my target
audience questionnaire.
It allows the observer to accurately follow
slides of what I’m conveying, in a simple, yet,
effective way. This simplicity helps not to
distract the observer from the progress of
my production, but allow them to view it in a
clear manner.
8. The Internet
The internet has mainly been the foundation in the
progress of my music magazine, in addition to Adobe
InDesign.
It allowed me to access online applications such as
Prezi and Slideshare, that I used to display
questionnaire results, research and certain parts of
evaluation.
In some areas of this research I could use the search
engine Google to collect images like, the music
magazine pages, to use for analysis.
Also, I could use the site Blogger to post my progress
easily and efficiently.
