Switzerland's Alps
By Dr Andrew Collier,
Philadelphia PA
2. Introduction
• Dr. Andrew Collier of Philadelphia, PA, has served
clients through Philadelphia Orthopaedic Associates
since becoming a partner there in 1987. Alongside
his career, Dr. Andrew Collier enjoys traveling
abroad and has skied at European sites such as St.
Moritz.
Said to be the first winter-sports resort in the world
and considered by many to be the best, St. Moritz
offers ski slopes and a frozen lake that hosts curling,
skating, and other activities. It also has the only
existing natural bobsled course.
3. Switzerland's Alps
• Other offerings include the men-only Cresta course and
four separate skiing sectors with 58 lifts. Additionally,
each year Switzerland's largest cross-country race, the
Engadin Skimarathon, takes place there.
Located in the Swiss Alps, St. Moritz lies three hours
away from Zurich, but the nearest airport is in Engadin,
only about 10 minutes away. The resort includes a wide
variety of skiing opportunities, including the Corviglia
and Corvatsch areas offering greater accessibility. After
skiing, visitors may wish to head down to the village for
food at local restaurants and snowbars.
