In recent decades, Vietnam’s Oil & Gas sector
has become the country’s leading industry and
plays an important role in the development of
Vietnam’s economy.
PetroVietnam Group has been the flagship
energy group of the country since estab-
lishment in 1975. Over the past 3 decades,
the Group has expanded from oil and gas
exploration and production, into refinery and
petrochemicaltorelatedsectorssuchaspower
generation, supporting services, ship building,
infrastructure, etc. The Group achieved an
average annual revenue growth rate of 28% in
the past five years and is recognized as the
economic locomotive of Vietnam.
Vietnam is forecasted to be the fastest
growing economy in South East Asia. Oil and
gas demand in Vietnam has been and will
continue to be very strong in the coming time
in line with growing economy, growing demand
for development of national industries and
for household consumptions of 88 million
consumers. The nation’s oil & gas product
consumption rate is expected to growth at
much higher rate than those of other countries
in the Asia Pacific region, including Thailand,
Malaysia and even the fast growing economy
China. Further development of the oil & gas
