2. Warm up – use p. 19 in text to answer the following: what is a compass
rose used for? why is the equator important? Why is the prime
meridian important? How many continents are shown on the map?
Name them. How many oceans are shown on the map? Name them.
3. Chpt 1, sect. 6 – Hemispheres, Continents, and Oceans (p. 19) read
aloud (see LG 14)
4. using reading notes on p. 8 of ISN, students work in pairs to answer
questions on cards handed out by teacher (three at a time). Once
questions have been answered, students raise hands, teacher checks,
and gives out next set of cards (ten in all).
