2. INTRODUCTION:
A yes–no question, formally known as a polar
question, is a question whose expected
answer is either "yes" or "no". Formally,
they present an exclusive disjunction, a pair
of alternatives of which only one is
acceptable. In English, such questions can
be formed in both positive and negative
forms.
In Arabic these questions are formed
exactly like yes/no questions in English .
The only difference is that you will use a
different question word. In our research we
will discuss how to translate this kind of
questions

questions
*In English there are tow basic types:
Yes or no questions
Wh questions
*Yes or No questions called (closed questions)
because there are only tow possible
responses
*Yes or No when forming a yes or no question
Must include one of these verb : be , do ,have
Or model verb it is impossible to ask a yes or no
without one of these verb.
5. We have several cases to use the
formulas yes or no questions in two
way:
-The first way when the sentence has verb to be
(am ,are ,were ,was)
-A student was studying his lessons
Students were studying their lessons
They are eating the food
She is eating the food
7. Subject and verb to be for
example :
(they are eating food ) sentence
(Are they eating the food ? Question
Yes, they are
No, they are not
8. These sentence have not verb to be but we use
(do) in question sentences.
We use (do) on plural in subject in present
simple
If the verb in its base form for example
She eats the food
Dose she eat the food?
They eat the food
Do they eat the food?
9. If the verb is in the past tense ,add(did) for
example :
She studied her lessons
Did she study her lessons
10. Yes or no question in Arabic
language
(هل)we use word
Is he a student?
Yes, he is
no, he is not
Are you doctor?
Yes, I am
No, I am not

12. Conclusion:
In our research we talked about yes or no
question and we supported research in
sentences and examples whether in English or
Arabic language. Also we talked about
structure of yes or no questions in English and
Arabic language . At the end we talked about a
problems and solutions in translation of yes or
no questions.
