2. SUPRATHEL®-the second skin
In burn surgery, a polylactide-
based temporary substitute,
Suprathel (PolyMedics
Innovations GmbH, Denkendorf,
Germany), has become available.
This material is a cellular,
biodegradable, synthetic
copolymer for temporary wound
coverage. Its exact mechanism of
action is still unknown, but a
potential to support wound
healing and reepithelialization is
attributed.
