2. Title I
Title I is a Federally funded program.
It began in l965.
Federal funds are allocated in rank
order on the basis of the number of
students on free and reduced lunch.
The goal of schools receiving Title I
funding is to give every child a high
quality education.
3. Schoolwide Schools
Burt is a schoolwide Title I program.
We serve ALL students in our school.
We do not identify any particular
student for any particular program.
At Burt, we strive to generate high
levels of academic achievement in core
subject areas, such as reading and
math, for ALL of our students.
4. Learning Targets
Our learning targets are based on the
state standards.
These learning targets help us
accomplish our goal to raise the reading
and math proficiency for ALL of our
students.
Learning targets provide a basis for
using a wide variety of teaching
methods and materials in order to
accommodate the need of every
student.
5. Reporting to Parents
Student progress is reported to parents
through Power School. This is an online
program where you can access important
information concerning your child’s
achievement.

6. Parent Involvement
Title I Parent Involvement Policy
The parents and staff of Burt Elementary
school will form a partnership to provide
high quality education for ALL Burt
students.
Title I Schoolwide Compact
The Burt Compact is an agreement to work
together in the child’s best interest.
This compact is a four-way contract --
student, parent, teacher, and principal –
which is signed by all.
7. Learning Centers
There are two Title I Learning Centers that provide
the following free services and materials:
Workshops for parents
Educational books and games for checkout
Family events for parents and children
A certified teacher to answer parent questions
A computer lab for parents and students
Tickets for public transportation to and from events
Child care for events at the centers
Fliers listing special events and workshops will be
handed out to students at school each month.
