Greetings Cornell Black Alumni:
Please make plans to join your fellow CBAA alumni in Ithaca June 7–10, 2012 to celebrate what will be remembered
as the most phenomenal Reunion weekend ever!
The 2012 Reunion committee has worked hard to put together a weekend of events that will interest alumni from
the classes of the 60s to recent years. There will be events and activities that will appeal to both your intellectual and
sociable sides. All are designed to help you reconnect with one another and discover what is new at Cornell. If your
class year ends in a 2 or 7, this is a significant milestone in your post-Cornell life. You will receive additional Reunion
information from your class in a separate mailing. You can also visit the Reunion website: alumni.cornell.edu/reunion.
This CBAA Reunion is taking place during an election year in which most Americans are facing increased challenges.
The CBAA Reunion committee has planned a very diverse program that focuses on surviving in a struggling economy,
maintaining balance, and establishing good health and financial well-being in 2012!
If this is your first time or if you are a repeat CBAA Reunion attendee, plan to arrive early this year! On Thursday, we
will have game night and light refreshments at Ujamaa. Friday morning we will enjoy an exhilarating morning stretch.
Later in the afternoon we’ll settle in with nutrition experts to get a holistic approach to our daily living and participate
in a Zumba® Fitness Class. In the evening, the group will meet at Appel Commons for a co-hosted evening with the
alumni of Delta Mu Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Mu Gamma Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
for a cocktail reception and dinner. Come to enjoy some delicious food, network, and listen to good music.
On Saturday morning, make plans to join other CBAA members and participate in Reunion Run. Then attend CBAA’s
general body meeting and election of its new officers. Later, join us in making connections in a very different
environment with Speed Networking, or join alumni in an optional wine tasting tour or a pick-up game of basketball.
If you are interested in wealth management, Cornell Mosaic will host a seminar with experts and professors to help
you put your finances in good perspective. In the evening, we welcome Wilma Ann ’92 who will perform a short
musical selection prior to our banquet dinner. Our keynote speaker this year will be Liz Ngonzi ’98, the Hotel
School’s Entrepreneur in Residence for 2011-2012 and founder of Amazing Taste, LLC. Liz will wow you with her
views on the importance of entrepreneurship in African-American economic empowerment and the necessity
for achieving balance on the entrepreneurial journey. We have also secured a special guest, DJ Rich Medina
’92, who will entertain us with music spanning generations at the Big Red Barn. Rich has performed in front of
crowds of thousands with artists like Lauryn Hill, De La Soul, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Jill Scott, and many others.
And, of course, there will be time for attendees to relive the “sweat box” parties at Ujamaa with Club 131.
For those of you looking to give your small business a boost, we have something new this year called
Entrepreneur Corner. We will have a table available for you to display, sell, or discuss your products with CBAA
alumni in Ujamaa.
So, begin planning and packing. We look forward to seeing you in Ithaca!
