Mothers

Looking at how these stereotypes are presented in the media,
and how women are changing these roles

Women as Sex Objects
Defining women in terms of their sex or sexuality.
Sex icons include; Megan Fox, Pamela Anderson, etc.
Women often are objectified as this stereotype.

Women are prominently viewed as sexual objects, using her
body or “sex appeal” to sell items, where men using the same
“sex appeal” are viewed uncomfortably
You can see women going against this stereotype as Beyonce,
Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Dormer

Women as Mothers
“Women belong in the house…& the Senate.”
Men who are fathers have improved perceptions at work.
Women who are mothers are seen as less competent.

A female professional who is independent, ambitious, directive,
competitive and sometimes tough, may be labeled as an “Iron
Maiden”. She is generally perceived as competent but
unlikable and unfeminine
