Economics of it all
How many of you:

Sit in a car on the way to work?

Sat down at your desk and will sit nearly all day?

Are sitting right now?

Will sit on your drive home tonight? … and …

Will plop down on the couch to catch up on some TV or
prop yourselves in front of the computer to surf the „net tonight?

“Yesterday, I finished my morning workouts and classes, showered, and relished the thought of a whole day in my
office to get work done. At 6 pm….I realized the only time I had sat down all day was in my car! I am
personally burning about 300-500 extra calories per day…the equivalent of my
afternoon outdoor walk. I absolutely LOVE my new workstation more than I
ever thought would!”

required burned calories per day. I have been involved in a health improvement program and wear an activity

that my calories burned per day went up by about 400 calories!

Healthy Environments. Healthy People. That’s WorkFit.
Consider integrating “wellness at the workspace” as an integral part of your
 wellness and employee safety initiatives.
 Maintain your commitment to employee health and safety by
eliminating the dangerous, long periods of sitting that traditional
           workspaces induce

 Minimize absenteeism, presenteeism and keep “lost time at work”
           numbers at bay.
 Independent studies consistently reveal: WorkFit users are
happier, more energized and feel increasingly healthier!

 Foster a “preventative” versus a “prescriptive” wellness methodology
to ward off potential health risks

 Integrate “state-of-the-art”, healthy and active work environments to
attract new talent and meet “talent sustainability” goals

To augment your transition to a sit-stand work environment, we offer a number of
complementary tools and services like on-site or web-based workspace coaching, interactive
Calorie-burn and Productivity calculators, and customizable Workspace Assessments.

Taking a stand
It‟s about taking charge of your
life. Your health. To reclaim your
                 right to move.
If you sit trapped at a computer
and work long hours your body is
                 craving it. Movement.
                 Restoration. Caloric burn.
And that‟s just a start. What are
                 you waiting for?

  1. These are the most common health issues afflicting Americans today.
  2. In a new study, American Cancer Society researchers exploring the association of mortality and sitting time suggest that a sedentary lifestyle actually has specific biological consequences.Researchers surveyed 123,216 healthy people (part of the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention II study in 1992) and found that people who spent their days sitting down have a higher risk of mortality. When combined with a lack of physical activity, the association was even stronger. Women and men who both sat more and were less physically were 94% and 48% more likely, respectively, to die compared with those who reported sitting the least and being most active.Science DailyMore Time Spent Sitting Linked to Higher Risk of Death; Risk Found to Be Independent of Physical Activity LevelJuly 23, 2010During the time period of 1993 to 2006, researchers found that women who sat down for at least 6 hours a day were 37 percent more likely to die when compared to women who sat for 3 hours a day during the time period studied. For the same time period, men who sat down for 6 hours a day were 18 percent more likely to die than their standing counterparts.
  3. The annual cost to American society for obesity is estimated at $147 billion and without intervention, is expected to more than double by 2018Obesity accounts for 2-6% of total health care costs in several developed countries; some estimates put the figure as high as 7% (World Health Organization)Obese employee sick days total approximately 39 million workdays and 63 million doctor visits yearly
  4. While there are a few competitive products in the marketplace to WorkFit, our bigger competition is mindshare. The reality is of eligible employees, less than 40% of those eligible take advantage of all the wellness initiatives offered. You can incentivize till the cows come home. The reality is, the average adult american still spends 30 hours a week, watching t.v.So all the good behaviors that are encouraged, prodded, and promoted in the workplace, aren’t happening once that employee leaves the office. Our message to Corporate America is clear: control what you can actually control to develop a more healthy and productive workforce, and improve your bottom line.An adjustable hydraulic desk, whose size can eat up all the cubicle space that a person is provided, averages $4,000 per desk; The ‘Treadmill desks’ also average $4,000 per person and for some, might actually cause more harm than good due to over-exertion or greater joint pain; Even a good chair and other ergonomic accessories can carry a hefty investment –the chair alone could run $700.
