This document is to be presented in a development workshop on Web 2.0 tools as a part of assignment in Effective Use of ICT for Learning and Teaching/Flinders Uni. It focuses on Edmodo as a free, safe and trusted social networking tool. It's really worth using.

8. Contemporary theories of learning Edmodo has the potential to help students: Socio-Constructivism: Students actively engaged in knowledge construction and through instructions. Learning from each one another Metacognitive skills Self-regulated learners Critical thinking Confident learners Responsible learners Lifelong learners Connectivism Knowledge is better constructed through connecting with others. It’s curriculum-unlimited!

Summary & Conclusion Free with many advantages and less but avoidable challenges Develops PLNs among teachers Encourages togetherness for learning Parents also get involved on the learning progress of children Edmodo offers a safe and trusted networking & learning environment involving key education stakeholders (students, teachers, parents, …) for learning purposes I recommend it for all teachers mainly those working with young students.
