3. CHAV INFLUENCES
The key influences of a chav could include:
-Upbringing: Chav’s can commonly be stereotyped with
being raised in a working/under class family where money is
quite an issue and they may not have a great quality of life.
-Environment: Due to lack of money in a chav’s upbringing
they are most likely to live in lower classed area, possible a
council estate where there are other families just like them who
influence their appearance and attitude into a chav stereotype.
-Peer Pressure: Because of the chavvy environment they
live in, chav’s can become friends with people who peer
pressure them into the common activities the public expect
chav’s to partake in, for example vandalism and other crimes.
This gives the “chav” sub culture a negative label.

4. CHAV VALUES
-To act in a certain way: A chav feels the need to fit in
with their chav peers in their environment, therefore act
mischievous, rude and aggressive. They like to cause trouble and
they are recognised for their common, crude accents and bad
language. They are often uneducated or unemployed.
-To dress in a certain way: The stereotype of a chav
includes wearing branded designer sportswear, gold jewellery
(hoop earrings, chains) and burberry tartan. Boys may use
excessive amounts of gel to spike their hair or a shaved head is
common. Girls usually slick back their hair into a high pony tail.
