people to gain access to driver training and licensing not possible before due to remoteness,
low literacy and cultural issues.
• Developed the Indigenous Community Driver Instructor Program and the Remote Area
Driver Training Program, sourcing funding of just under $1M.
• Modified the teaching to meet the needs of the communities while still meeting Motor
Vehicle Registry standards; reported back to funding body and state authorities on status.
• Canvassed communities throughout the NT for input; promoted and delivered the program.
• (Note: These program are well documented Australia wide as being innovative in
indigenous road safety and is responsible for the development of two national road safety
videos “Corrugations to Highway”, an indigenous road safety video, and Driving Australia,

established the professional driver training benchmark.
• Designed a driver training and licensing program for Alice Springs and Darwin Correctional
Centre’s to deal with motor vehicle related offences such as unlicensed and drunk driving.
