Official FWIO Release: Public Statement regarding wind damage at the Erland Lee (Museum) Home
This Press Release is intended to inform the general public and the WI Members of the recent wind damage to the
Erland Lee (Museum) Home property. On April 28th, a major wind storm caused havoc in the Stoney Creek area, which
led to damage on the Erland Lee (Museum) Home property. Thank you to all those concerned about the well-being of
the Lee Home, Drive Shed (Carriage House) and grounds.
Within the first 24hrs, FWIO had pursued contractors and an electrician to ensure the safety and security of the home,
and to assess the damage and provide quotes for the clear up. The following is an outline of what has taken place to
date.
An Electrician was on site within the first 24 hrs to ensure the Lee Home and Drive Shed were safe and secure,
and assured the FWIO that the damage was not urgent.
To adhere to FWIO policy, numerous contractors were called for quotes and many of them where busy due to
the high demand of emergency repair required throughout the Stoney Creek area.
The last quotes were received on May 6th, and a contractor was hired to commence work as of May 9th, 2011.
Trees need to be removed before the electrical and structural work can commence on the Drive Shed.
Due to contractors recovery in the area, the work could take up to a week or two prior to being completed. FWIO
anticipates the majority of the work being completed by the end of this week. Once the electrical work is complete,
approval will be required by Hydro One.
