1. Gardeners can make a difference
Plant a Row for the Hungry!
Would you like to grow some extra fresh produce to donate to our neighbors in need? If so, sign
up for the 2010 Plant a Row (PAR) program. Gardeners who sign up can receive some free
vegetable seeds and a series of helpful educational newsletters.
The best crops to donate to local food pantries are simple to prepare, keep well, and are high in
nutrition. Some excellent choices include:
Cabbage Green beans
Beets Broccoli
Carrots Zucchini
Small winter squash Turnips
Cucumbers Tomatoes
Just fill out the enrollment form below and mail or deliver to the Washington County Extension
Office by Friday, May 7, 2010. You will be notified when and where you can to pick up
seeds. A list of nearby locations and times to drop off the fresh produce will be provided to you
this summer.
Plant a Row for the Hungry is a public service campaign of the Garden Writers Association whose goal is to
help to feed the hungry by establishing PAR networks in communities everywhere.
