Electronic music has evolved significantly since the 1950s from the earliest synthesizers to modern digital music. It now encompasses many genres from ambient and new age to techno, house, and dubstep made using synthesizers, samplers, computers, and a variety of software. Electronic music production allows musicians to create sounds that would be impossible to produce acousticly alone in a studio or with live instruments.
