Military Saves Campaign- The 2013 Military Saves Campaign will get underway during Military Saves Week, February
25-March 2, 2013. As part of the larger nationwide America Saves Campaign, Military Saves will again be conducted in
cooperation with the Consumer Federation of America. As in prior years, the Military Saves Campaign is a year-long effort
for the DoD military community, and the military banks have traditionally played a key role in supporting the Campaign.
The result of a successful Campaign is the enhanced financial readiness of military members and their families by
reducing debt and fostering a saving culture. The 2013 Military Saves Campaign memo from General Martin E. Dempsey,
USA, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Sergeant Major Bryan B. Battaglia, USMC, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the
Chairman, is on Facebook in the Feb album. The theme for this year's campaign is "Start Small, Think Big." Sign up now to

8. About a month ago, Fort Riley and the Symphony in the Flint Hills announced the prairie post would be the site of the
eighth annual Symphony in the Flint Hills event June 15 at historic Artillery Parade Field. Fort Riley is proudly
celebrating its 160th anniversary in 2013; the Symphony in the Flint Hills event provides an opportunity for off-post
visitors to celebrate with us. In 160 years, Fort Riley has grown from a frontier post to the premier division-level
installation in the Army. Once home to the U.S. Cavalry School and the famous "Buffalo Soldiers," Fort Riley is now home
to the 1st Infantry Division, the "Big Red One." At Fort Riley, we are excited to welcome the Kansas City Symphony to
our installation, and we are happy to partner with the Symphony in the Flint Hills to further its mission of heightening
appreciation and knowledge of the tallgrass prairie, by providing opportunities to experience symphonic music and
place-based education in the Flint Hills. In addition to our scenic location, we are thrilled to offer visitors the
opportunity to experience the historical heritage of Fort Riley. Among the educational opportunities that will be
provided at Fort Riley include visits to our Cavalry and 1st Inf. Div. museums, tours of the Custer House and First
Territorial Capitol of Kansas, and activities at Cavalry Parade Field. The concert and associated educational events will
provide a unique cultural opportunity for Fort Riley residents and our Kansas neighbors to experience the Flint Hills
together in a historic setting.
Symphony in the Flint Hills has set aside 500 advanced tickets for Fort Riley Soldiers and Families, and, if supplies last,
Department of Defense ID cardholders. Advance ticket sales will run Feb. 25 to March 1 for Fort Riley Soldiers and
Families only. Then, March 4 to 8, advance ticket sales will open to any DoD ID cardholders – Soldiers, Families, reservists,
retirees and civilians. Ticket reservations will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Advance tickets can be reserved through the Leisure Travel Center in Building 6918 on Custer Hill, which is located near
the Exchange Mini-Mall. Tickets are $75 for adults and $43 for children. Those wanting to reserve tickets will be required
to fill out a reservation form for a maximum of six tickets. Reservation forms can be picked up at Leisure Travel Center,
requested via phone at 785-239-5614 or via email at leisuretravelcenter@rileymwr.com.
.
Forms also may be dropped off in person or sent in via email. Once tickets are reserved, it will be the responsibility of
the individual making the request to complete the purchase of tickets by calling the Kansas City Symphony Box Office at
816-471-0400 between March 11 to 15. If individuals fail to pay for tickets by March 15, the individual will forfeit
ticket reservations.
For more information, call the Leisure Travel Center at 785-239-5614 or email leisuretravelcenter@rileymwr.com.
9. If you would like to keep yourself schooled in the Kansas weather every year, the National Weather
Service in Topeka presents spotter
talks which are open to the general public. Presentations are typically around 90 minutes long, and
are given by a meteorologist from
our office. Spotter training will focus on storm structure and accurate identification of important
