Noise and Training Advisory for January 3-13, 2013.
Training scheduled for Jan. 3-8 does not have the potential for significant noise. From Jan. 8-11, between

the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.,
will have a potential for impact noise.
Road/Area Closures. N/A.
Fort Riley’s Biggest Loser Program, a six-month fitness program, starts Jan. 14 at King Field House.
Soldiers, Family members and civilians may participate. Civilians who participate are authorized three
house of administrative leave absence per week for the duration of the program. For more information or

January . 12 and February 9 at 7 p.m A Flick-and-Float event will take place . at Eyster Pool. Cost to
participate
is $10 per Family or $5 per is $10 per Family or $5 per person. Hot dogs, chips, juice and cookies will be

2. January. 12 12:30 p.m A Blind Draw Doubles Tournament Custer Hill Bowling Center.
Registration is at 11 a.m., and blind draws will take place at noon. The
entry fee is $25 per person. Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second place. For more information,

January. 19. from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Custer Hill Bowling Center will host a kids lock-in night Unlimited
bowling and drinks will be provided. The cost is $7.50 per child, and children must be at least
10 years old to participate. Parents must sign in and sign out when picking up children. Emergency

This is a series of three short films that directly ties to the traveling exhibit,

3. January 12 Operation Sweet Treat at the Manhattan Town Center. Visit the Local Manhattan girl Scout
troops stationed near the customer service on 12 January to purchase a ration of these sweet treats for
soldiers currently deployed overseas and within the USO and the Warrior transition battalion at Ft. Riley.

January 22 1 pm The Fort Riley Middle School Groundbreaking ceremony
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be conducted inside the Fort Riley Middle School
gymnasium. The new middle school will replace the existing school, with construction of the new school
expected to be
completed by August 2014. The public is invited to attend the event. A reception will follow the
ceremony from 1:30 to 2 p.m. in the middle school library.
January 23 The Tax Center, on Ft. Riley which is located at Building 7034 at the corner of Normandy

and Bullard on Custer Hill, is scheduled to open. to make an appointment call 785-239-1040. this

NOW – Feb Outdoor Rec Frosty Contest . Each time it snows, take pictures of you and your friends making
a snowman for the chance to win prizes from Outdoor Rec. One entry per snowfall is allowed. Submit your

4. January 21 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration

“A day on, not a day off” is the theme for a day’s worth of activities honoring Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Event highlights will include local school choirs, brief speeches by local government leaders and
dignitaries, and numerous talent showcases.

Manhattan Town Center is pleased to welcome the Klicks for Kids Exhibit to Center Court, sponsored

compiled a moving exhibit of Kansas kids that are looking for an adoptive family to offer them a warm

5. Do you have the Best BRO Love Story?
Is your love story the stuff fairytales are made of? Tell us about it! Send us a photo of you with your
significant other, information about when and where you met and two or three sentences about what
makes your love story the best in the 1st Infantry Division. The photos will be posted to the Division
Facebook page and fans will be asked to "like" their favorites. The photo with the most "likes" on Feb. 1
will be declared the winner. The winning couple will be featured in an article that will appear in the
Feb. 15 edition of Fort Riley's Post Newspaper.

while our soldiers are at NTC.
Army Family Team Building (AFTB) classes consist of information on resources, benefits, leadership, and interpersonal
skills. The goal
of AFTB is to improve overall personal growth by
promoting personal and Family Readiness, to assist Soldiers and Family Members in adapting to change, to help Families
become self-reliant
and informed, and to assist in developing
professional skills.

7. Military Saves Campaign- The 2013 Military Saves Campaign will get underway during Military
Saves Week, February 25-March 2, 2013. As part of the larger nationwide America Saves
Campaign, Military Saves will again be conducted in cooperation with the Consumer Federation
of America. As in prior years, the Military Saves Campaign is a year-long effort for the DoD
military community, and the military banks have traditionally played a key role in supporting the
Campaign. The result of a successful Campaign is the enhanced financial readiness of military
members and their families by reducing debt and fostering a saving culture. The 2013 Military
Saves Campaign memo from General Martin E. Dempsey, USA, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff, and Sergeant Major Bryan B. Battaglia, USMC, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman, is
