Remembering Hannah Fundraiser
Being a part of the community means putting yourself out front. As a
community we have a unique opportunity on November 18, 2012 to make a
difference for Mark Rinehart. A Soldier. A Teacher. A Son. A Brother. A
Friend. A Husband, who has recently lost his young wife to a rare bacterial
infection.
I ask that you take a look at the attached package and determine your
corporate and/or individual level of interest. We need sponsors, volunteers,
walkers and help getting the word out.
Make a difference by being involved.

Remembering Hannah One Mile Fun Run and Walk‐a‐thon
September 17, 2012
Dear friends, colleagues, and those dedicated to helping others,
On behalf of Operation Appreciation, we are asking you to consider sponsorship for the Remembering Hannah One Mile
Fun Run and Walk‐a‐thon on November 18, 2012 at Rhodes Jordan Park. This event will raise funds through corporate
sponsorships, walk‐a‐thon donations, event day auctions and raffles, individual donations, kid’s activities, and a bean
bag toss (cornhole) tournament. All proceeds raised will provide financial assistance to a Georgia Army National Guard
Soldier, Mark Rinehart, through a time of emotional and financial distress.
Mark is a South Gwinnett school teacher and Soldier in the Georgia Army National Guard. On July 2, 2012, Mark Rinehart
took his wife, Hannah Rinehart, to the hospital for what was expected to be a routine visit after battling and beating
cancer 3 times in her life by the age of 32. The visit quickly progressed into admittance into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
to fight against a different adversary, bacterial infection.
With Hannah’s condition deteriorating and while kept sedated, Mark watched as Hannah’s body was unable to save the
flesh on her limbs. In an attempt to save her life, he authorized the hospital on July 26, 2012 to amputate both her
hands and feet.
Although doctors and family believed she would recover, Hannah Rinehart passed away on September 5, 2012 after
spending 60+ days in the ICU. Rather than being resentful, Mark as a testament to his character, provided the following
message to those following his story, “thank you for all of the love and support you have shown my wife and our family”.
If this story sounds familiar to you, it is because it has been publicized by several members of the local media. Most
notably, Mark and Hannah’s story has been covered by the Gwinnett Daily Post, Snellville Patch, Fox news, ABC news,
CBS news, the Q100 Bert Show, and 104.7 the Fish.
We recognize that Companies are concerned whether their sponsorship dollars are going to make meaningful impacts
on their community. This event has a goal of raising $20,000, but more importantly to provide emotional support for
Mark through social involvement and a sense of community while attending the event and aiding him to alleviate the
financial burden of this tragedy. Donations are tax deductible as Operation Appreciation is non‐for‐profit (tax ID: 45‐
4886626).
We appreciate your consideration for this event, and hope you consider sponsoring to demonstrate appreciation and
provide a meaningful impact to a local member of our community that has dedicated his life to the service of others.
Best Regards,
Beth Waters Dan Smith
