In light of the ever worsening GM crisis relative to a faulty ignition switch on Chevy Cobalt and Saturn Ion, amongst other models in the product line-up, "Car Concerns" Radio Show with Host Harry Douglas and Monday Morning Co-Host Myron D. Stokes, presented on today's show a proposed full page ad designed to address a state of affairs epitomizing Public Relations and Corporate Reputational disaster. GM has to now look past the catastrophe and rebuild their relationship with customers and their stakeholders. We wish them well

GM RECALL DAMAGE CONTROL: STOKES/DOUGLAS PROPOSED FULL PAGE AD IN RESPONSE TO CONTINUING CORPORATE REPUTATIONAL CRISIS
1. Proposed Full Page Ad For GM Crisis
WE ARE GM…
AND WE ARE SORRY…
We are not the old GM.
We are not the new GM.
We are GM, a company that has been part and parcel to the fabric of the
American existence, indeed part of its DNA and that of the world, for nearly a
century.
As a result of our internal decisions which we now sincerely regret regarding
safety critical components on certain of GM’s family of products, you have lost
wives, husbands, sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, friends… loved ones all.
We know that nothing we say or do from this moment can change that reality,
nothing can mitigate your grief, your sense of loss.
However, we will try by massively overhauling our design, engineering,
manufacturing and quality control processes to help ensure that you’ll not have
to undergo so grievous, so painful, a set of life circumstances again. Can we
guarantee “never again”? No.
We are GM, and like you, we are imperfect, flawed and oftentimes subject to
circumstance beyond our control.
Nevertheless, we also appreciate the ancient wisdom that says “To whom much is
given, much is expected”. In this, we have failed you, our valued customers, in
2. meeting such expectations which in this instance, are that you drive our vehicles
in total confidence.
We are GM, the same GM that, along with other legacy members of the
automotive industry and the massive industrial base created that makes things of
value, thus the economies of nations, and America’s middle class, was there
when war clouds loomed as a precursor to the global conflict WWII, that shaped
our modern age in its aftermath.
It was one of GM’s sons, William Knudsen, father of “Bunkie” Knudsen, who
with his secretary was invited in 1938 to the home of Nazi Luftwaffe and
Industrial Chief Hermann Goehring, to discuss GM’s continued presence in
Germany. Upon learning that Goehring wanted GM to build an enhanced
version of the Allison V-1710 aircraft engine with plans acquired through covert
and overt means, Knudsen deferred to GM’s board and its director Alfred E.
Sloan and would advise Goehring subsequent to their decision.
Instead of reporting back to Sloan, Knudsen went straight to Franklin Delano
Roosevelt to advise him that “Germany is going to war, when they’re ready.”
The President heeded Knudsen’s warning and appointed him to lead the effort,
as a 2-Star General, to convert America’s industrial base to a war footing.
We are GM, the same GM that built the FM-2, the GM produced version of the
vaunted Grumman F4F Wildcat that provided protection in the skies above the
American battlefleet during the pivotal Battle of Midway in 1942, against a
superior Japanese Force.
We are GM, and we helped build the ships and planes and tanks and trucks and
landing craft and other materiel’ that transported and protected your fathers,
mothers, sons and daughters to the extent possible, and when the ultimate
sacrifice was made, brought them home from the battlefields of the European
and Pacific theaters of operation…. To you..
3. We are GM, and we know that these actions and sacrifices laid the foundation
for a newly prosperous and powerful America populated by families with the
ability to earn a living, then, as now.
We will continue to fight here and abroad to regain your trust. We will never
surrender… these objectives, these values.
We are GM, we are you, you are us, we are family…
Forgive us…
