Optical Fibre Services

Whether you are using fibre in the long-haul, metro, or access network the quality
of the fibre, the engineering for usage, the placement, testing, certification and re-
certification is critical.
To many times fibre usage is designed inappropriately, installed improperly, and
tested only for attenuation. Each of these items – Engineering – Installation – test-
ing – has a significant impact on achieving the ROI for fibre.
Unicorn knows this and we use the latest standards when designing your fibre
plant, knowing that it is a 30 year investment. We install your fibre with only mech-
anised systems, fully documenting the tension applied during placement, whether
manually pulled or air blown we have a record by meter. Testing is key to achieving
your ROI with fibre. We test not only attenuation, but also bandwidth, lambdas and
dispersion.

Fibre-to-the-X

Unicorn Communications has extensive experience in design, installation, testing,
joining, premises wiring, cutover services, commissioning and operation of Fibre-
to-the-X services. Unicorn has designed and built in excess of 10million kilometres
of FTTX fibre infrastructure (60/40 metro/Rural split).
Our crews are experienced placement, joining and connectorisation in the head-
end, central office, trunk and feeder cables, splitters, distribution cable, fibre drops
and pigtails. The very nature of FTTX projects require multiple joining, connecto-
risation and cutover along with adequate equipment to complete the project to our
clients satisfaction in a specified timeframe.

Home Network Services

Whether installing FTTX or WiFi services, how the home network will be installed
is critical to proper service and company image. Unicorn offers a complete service
offering for the Home Network service installation and support.
We will install the required inside plant cabling (Cat 5e) and or WiFi network ele-
ments, as well as ensure that the respective PC’s, Television sets and wireline phones
are working to the customers’ satisfaction.

Power Delivery Systems

Unicorn provides integrated engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC)
services for transmission lines, substations, and distribution facilities. These servic-
es extend to independent transmission installations and those associated with new
power generation facilities.
Overhead Transmission: The impact of power outages is significant for our cli-
ents and ultimately the people who depend on that power in their everyday lives.
Transmission systems are being pushed to move more power, in the midst of in-
creasing reliability requirements and other operational needs, requiring creative so-
lutions for sitting, permitting, right-of-way acquisitions and project execution.
Underground Transmission: The power delivery industry continues to respond
to public pressures to find cost-effective alternatives to overhead transmission lines,
particularly in congested city streets and environmentally sensitive areas. The bal-
ance between delivering economical electric energy and addressing aesthetics and
the environment is delicate, and underground transmission may, in some cases,
provide the best solution.
New transmission and distribution infrastructure must be built to ensure electric
energy is reliably delivered. Construction resources, stringent budget requirements
and aggressive schedules pose a significant challenge for our clients who have con-

Service and Maintain is a good entry point for companies new to outsourcing.
With Service and Maintain contracts companies maintain the asset however turns

and Maintain contracts can be a single network element or the whole network in-
