Optimize the describe schema at connect. This will make it much faster to render maps even though the Oracle connection is not cached. This also allows users to Author layers against these databases in Studio.Caching of schemas typically happen when MapGuide first connects to the Oracle database to look at the tables it has access to. The graphic on the left shows that the number of seconds it takes has reduced even when connecting for the first time.Faster loading of a map when the data source contains large schemas such as an Oracle database with many tables. Faster display of the map by merging multiple requests into a single GETDYNAMICMAPOVERLAYIMAGE requestThe graphic on the right shows that the amount of time it takes to load a layer and the speed of loading an map has improved.
Reduced number of HTTP requests to the server for information. This results in faster loading of the Flexible Web Layouts as it doesn’t need as many requests to initiate on the browser. The requests made are typically the dynamically generated user interface items such as toolbars, icons etc.Faster loading of a map when the data source contains large schemas such as an Oracle database with many tables. Faster display of the map by merging multiple requests into a single GETDYNAMICMAPOVERLAYIMAGE requestLeverage the use of JSON output from the server. JSON is more compact than XML and so should increase performance because less data needs to be sent over the wire. Use new libraries (MooTools replaces Scriptaculous and Prototype) that will make the size of the required libraries smaller, and thus decrease download time of the Fusion libraries. Faster selection by putting the selection on a separate layer. The old way embedded the selection into the map image, and when a selection was rendered the whole map had to be re-rendered (theming and all) as well and this was slow if the map was slow to render. RFC 38 (done as part of AMGE 2009) provided the API enhancement to do this. Also, a separate speedup for selection: selection speed is improved by reducing the number of selects to a data source when a selection is done; for example, previously, when 500 features were selected, there would be 25 distinct select requests to the data source, but now there will only be one.
Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise also shows significant performance gains when working on repositories with a very large number of resources, layers, maps etc.
Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise enables users to reproject vector and raster data on the fly, so they can work with datasets in disparate coordinate systems and combine them for use in a single application or map.
Divide the raster into a grid of trianglesTransform each point in the triangle grid into the target CSRenders each triangle separatelyTransform calculations are shared by AutoCAD Map 3D and Autodesk MapGuide
The default selection color can now be modified.
Faster raster performance - By allowing multiple Raster Provider connections to be open at the same timeImproved legend display – by allowing the user to remove unwanted geometry types in the legend for example if a table has just point features and Autodesk MapGuide Studio is not able to identify the geometry type of the layer, you can override it to only show the point preview icon in the legend.Coordinate system – resolve unknown coordinate systems faster“Better server error reporting” (RFC 49). This will help customers and product support diagnose problems more easily and quickly.
