2. James Rizzi, modern pop artist, became famous
for the 3D paper sculptures he invented. Also
loved were the playful and childlike forms and
bright colors which became his artistic trademark.
3. Another claim to fame
came through the
application of his
distinctive style to a
large variety of
everyday objects –
from stamps to the
Rizzi house, from
puzzles to the Rizzi jet
plane, from chinaware
to Rizzi cars and
trains.
6. Many of his paintings and sculptures were of
people and buildings, both found in large
quantities in New York, where he spent his life.
7. His style is a fun one to imitate.
Simple eyes (almond shaped with a circle and center black
dot)
Simple noses (shaped like a 6 or upside down 7)
Used bright, contrasting colors
8. His buildings were full of character and composed of
simple shapes and lines.
9. To create your own Rizzi inspired work, draw a picture
with bold lines using an oil pastel and then use bright
watercolors to paint! Choose either faces or
buildings.
