- Hello everyone, I am Gigi Teo, and my team and I would like to present to you Artificial Intelligence as shown in the media.
- The topics we’ll be covering today are: What is AI? Why do humans use it AI in Movies andIf AI is a boon or bane.
- Now, last week, Mr. Chan has already taught us what AI is. However, I’d like to refresh your memory by giving you a brief description of it. Simply put, AI is the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men. This field was founded by Alan Turing in 1950, where he later goes on to invent the Turing Test; a test to deem if an AI is successful or not. Thus far, Turing has created the basis for research on artificial intelligence that is greatly motivated and inspired by human behaviors: the way we walk, talk, see, think and do. These intelligent agents are then expected to respond to an input respectively. According to Brookshear (2009), an agent is a “device” that responds to stimuli from its environment. While we commonly relate such “devices” to robots, intelligent agents are not restricted to them only. It encompasses an airplane on autopilot mode and even the tumble dryer that is capable of adapting its settings dependent on the load and its dampness.
