I would like to make outdoor patio furniture for my kids out of electrical spools.?
The problem is the smaller ones I want to use for chairs have a cardboard center. Does anyone know of anything that
will waterproof cardboard?

Cardboard is very hydroscopic – that is, water absorbing. Using any kind of sealer will likely be absorbed into the
cardboard fibers and will probably fail to protect it until you reach the point of saturation. Unfortunately at saturation
levels the cardboard will likely break down, and you will end up having ruined them.
I’ve never done it, but I suppose if I were going to TRY it, I’d start with fiberglass resin. It will penetrate the first layer
and seal it. Then apply a second layer to fill any voids and to give it a stronger coating. Be sure to do this in a well
ventilated area and work with small amounts at a time. The work time on this resin (available in your local
hardware store) is usually 10 minutes or less, depending on how much hardener you add.
You will need gloves, lots of disposable cups and lots of disposable coffee stirring sticks as well as something
disposable for spreading the resin. don’t use a brush, even a cheap one, the resin will harden in the bristles and
ruin the brush.
Good luck.

best way to paint/redo white plastic patio chairs?
just want to add color and interest to old white plastic patio chairs…paint/pretty cushions, etc. has anyone done this
and what were the results? home colors are neutral beiges and greens with some burgundy/pink accents. house is

they make spray paint for plastic now, but i’m not sure what colors are available. if possible i would go with a deep
green. that compliments burgundy, beige, brick, etc. if the paint does not come in that color, beige or off white
would be better than stark white.
5. if you can go with the dark green, nice beige seat cushions would be nice. if you have to do the opposite, beige
paint, buy green seat cushions as an accent color.

How to do I protect outdoor patio furniture w/cushions?
We just bought a patio set which includes thick chair cushions. They say they have been treated to be water repellant.
Do we need to move them every time it rains? What else should I do to protect the padding? Thanks.

The padding is also designed to be fast drying, but if it is going to rain Friday night or Saturday morning and you
know you’re going to use it Saturday afternoon, it might not dry fast enough for you.
Being water repellent and fast drying are certainly a help, but they still tend to get a bit dirty out there. If I’m not
going to be using them during the work week, I take them in and put them back on the weekend. If you notice after
a few months that they are not as water repellent as they were, you can buy a spray can of the repellent to renew.

How do I recover outdoor patio chair cushions?
Our patio cushions are in good shape, but we want to recover them because the sun has faded the color and there
are spills. I am not sure of the best way to do this.

Go to your local hardware store and take one with you and ask if they have covers to put over them so you wont
see the stains.or try washing one in the washing machine and if that works do the others. put the washing
machine on the slowest mode possible and use good stain removing washing powder. It should go well.

Where can I find a good sale on outdoor patio (chair and bench) cushions?
I got a really nice outdoor patio set (3 wooden high-back chairs and 1 high-back bench) from my aunt who was getting
rid of them. The only thing I need are cushions…but Im on a pretty tight budget and everywhere Ive looked the prices
seem pretty steep. Are there any places that sell all weather-cushions that are reasonably cheap (but at the same
time not cheaply made)?

Know how to fix Outdoor Patio Swivel Chairs???
Two of my outdoor patio swivel chairs have broken. Once you sit in it, the chair goes all the way back without stopping.
I beleive it was from too much weight. Is their anyway to fix it?
Thanks for any info… I would hate to throw them out, they are nice looking but obviously not functionable.

And you don’t know some helpful lad who can look at these? I fix things all the time, but nobody could ever tell you
much until the chair was on their bench. Everything’s different. But you’re probably right – they can be fixed.
Hope you can find somebody who does that. Or fix them yourself – you can’t do too much wrong – they’re already
busted. Flip them over and subject them to close scrutiny.

Source for reasonably priced cushions for outdoor chairs with curved backs?
We have a set of four wrought-iron patio chairs with curved backs. Rectangular cushions don’t fit very well–I’d prefer
the type with fan-shaped backs. I can’t find them for any price at places like lowes.com. Does anybody know where I
can find these without paying an arm and a leg, or should I just buy new chairs that take standard rectangular
cushions?
Thanks,

homedecorators.com has some.
If you don’t mind them being used, possibly sign up for freecycle.org It is a website that you register for by the city
you live in. Then people post things they are giving away (always free) and people also post what they are looking
for…. Good luck

Outdoor patio?
My boyfriend and I want to clear a little part of his back yard of weeds so we can put some chairs and a table out there.
It’d be nice to lay down some brick or something…is there an inexpensive, DIY kind of way to do something like this?
Thanks in advance.

First dig up and remove the sod two or three inches. Level and pack the dirt. Then put down a layer of sand. put
edging around the perimeter to keep your bricks or pavers from drifting. Install the bricks or pavers. Finally, use a
broom to sweep sand into the joints.
Or build a freestanding deck.
