1. Start a Business in 2014
We all make New Year Resolutions at the end of December or the beginning of January. Not all of us
make these resolutions consciously and simply make a life change without really thinking about it. But
many of us tell ourselves that we are going to make this year better than the last. For some people that
might mean losing a few pounds for a favourite pair of jeans, for others it could mean giving up the
nicotine once and for all – for many, a change in career is on the cards. If you’re thinking about making a
few changes to your career, why not consider starting a business?
Perhaps you’ve been thinking about it for some time but just needed the inspiration and the right timing
to actually do it? If so, here are some great ways to get your business started…
1) Plan your budget
Your budget will be very important because a new business can (and mostly likely will) cost a lot of
money. Therefore you need to know what you will have money left over to spend on and what you
won’t be able to afford just yet. For example, you might need Office Refurbishment London but brand
new furniture and computers might need to wait until you have a higher income.
2) Second Hand
Not every business needs to spend a fortune on brand new meeting room furniture, desks, and
computers. Go online and look at online market places like Ebay, Amazon, and Gumtree for some great
deals on pieces that will do the job and look acceptable for now.
3) Don’t go overboard with employing
Employees are great and everything but when you’ve got a new business, it can be difficult to manage
everyone at first. Start with the bare minimum and employ new people as and when you need them.
As with all things in life, it’s best to stay calm and try not to panic, even when times get tough. A new
business is no picnic so prepare for the storm and try to wade it out!
