• Only high school degree
• Age 20-24 (10,4→22,4% unemployed)
• Age 25-34 (6,1 →14,4% unemployed)
• Minimum wages
• Less full-times

4. Effect on young people
• No secure income
• Debts
• Depressed
• Future?
• Living back with their parents
• Alcohol, drugs, criminality and games

5. Times are changing
• 1945 till 2006:
o No diplome, no problem
• blue collar worker, good salary
• Now
o No diplome, problem
• Maybe job, certainly no good salary
• Change came too fast

6. Next generation
• Not well-connected to the labour market
• Don’t have much community feeling
• More selfish generation

7. My conclusion
• Having a degree is very important
• Social support in Belgium
• More government support for unemployed persons
• Protecting themselves
