4. “Reproductive System” The reproductive system or genital system is a system of organs within an organism which work together for the purpose of reproduction. The major organs of the human reproductive system include the external genitalia (penis and vulva) as well as a number of internal organs including the gamete producing gonads (testicles and ovaries).
5.
6. Process of Reproduction Human reproduction takes place as internal fertilization by sexual intercourse. During this process, the erect penis of the male is inserted into the female's vagina until the male ejaculates semen, which contains sperm, into the female's vagina. The sperm then travels through the vagina and cervix into the uterus or fallopian tubes for fertilization of the ovum. Upon successful fertilization and implantation, gestation of the foetus then occurs within the female's uterus for approximately nine months, this process is known as pregnancy. Gestation ends with birth, the process of birth is known as labor. Labor consists of the muscles of the uterus contracting, the cervix dilating, and the baby passing out the vagina.
10. Infertility Inability to conceive; Unable to get pregnant If the couple has not conceived after 12 months of contraceptive-free intercourse if the female is under the age of 34 If the couple has not conceived after 6 months of contraceptive-free intercourse if the female is over the age of 35 Primary infertility describes couples who have never been able to become pregnant after at least 1 year of unprotected sex (intercourse). Secondary infertility describes couples who have been pregnant at least once, but have not been able to become pregnant again.
11. According to WHO: Male factor contributes 30% of Infertility cases. Female factor contributes 40% of Infertility cases. Combined factor contributes 20% of Infertility cases. Unexplained factor contributes 10% of Infertility cases.
12. Causes Causes of infertility include a wide range of biological, physical and emotional factors. A couple's infertility may be due to female factors, male factors, or both:
13. FEMALE INFERTILITY Causes Autoimmune disorders, such as antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) Clotting disorders Defects of the uterus and cervix (myomas or fibroids, polyps, birth defects) Excessive exercising, eating disorders, or poor nutrition Exposure to certain medications or toxins Heavy use of alcohol Hormone imbalance or deficiencies Long-term (chronic) disease, such as diabetes Obesity Ovarian cysts and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) Pelvic infection or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) Scarring from sexually transmitted infection or endometriosis Tumor
14. MALE INFERTILITY Male infertility may be due to: A decrease in the number of sperm Sperm being blocked from being released Sperm that do not work properly
15. Causes of Male Infertility Exposure to high heat for prolonged periods Genetic abnormalities Heavy use of alcohol, marijuana, or cocaine Hormone deficiency or taking too much of a hormone Impotence Infections of the testes or epididymis Older age
16. Causes of Male Infertility Previous chemotherapy Previous scarring due to infection (including sexually transmitted diseases), trauma, or surgery Radiation exposure Retrograde ejaculation Smoking Surgery or trauma Use of prescription drugs, such as cimetidine, spironolactone, and nitrofurantoin
17. Causes Of Male Infertility: Sperm quanitity or quality problems: Oligospermia (low sperm count) Azospermia (No sperms) Asthenospermia (sluggish sperms / low motility) Teretospermia (Sperm Shape disorders) Oligoasthenotertozoospermia ( all disorders combine)
18. Laboratory Tests Tests in women may include: Blood hormone levels FSH and clomid challenge test to check ovarian reserve Hysterosalpingography (HSG) Pelvic ultrasound Laparoscopy (especially if endometriosis is suspected) Luteinizing hormone urine test (ovulation predictor kit) Pelvic exam Progestin challenge if periods are infrequent Serum progesterone Temperature first thing in the morning to check for ovulation (basal body temperature charting) Thyroid function tests
19. Tests in men may include: Semen analysis Testicular biopsy (rarely done) Laboratory Tests
20. Treatment Treatment depends on the cause of infertility. It may involve: Education and counseling Medical procedures such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) Medicines
21. Treatment A couple can increase their chance of becoming pregnant each month by having sexual intercourse at least every 3 days in the weeks leading up to and through the expected time of ovulation. Ovulation occurs between 10th and 18th day after the female gets her period. So, if the female partner gets her period every 28 days, the couple should have sexual intercourse at least every 3 days between the 10th and 18th day after the female gets her period.
22. Why Nutrition? “Nutrition and nutritional supplements are of growing importance in reproductive medicine. This kind of research will help us better understand the impact of nutrition on reproductive health.” *Steven Ory, MD, ASRM President-elect Nutrition plays a role in reproductive health25 01 2007 At the 62nd Annual Meeting of the ASRM several new studies were highlighted for the impact nutrition has on the reproductive system
23. Tribulus terrestris Tribulus terrestris is a natural product effective on the sexual reproductive system. It is obtained from the thorn plant Tribulus terrestris Tribulus terrestris improves sexual activity, and also improves and prolongs penile erection in men. It has stimulating effect on spermatogenesis by increasing the number of spermatozoa and their motility and viability.
24. QUALITY AND STANDARDIZATION OF T. terrestris … Tribulus terrestris is highly effective safe and Natural Compound widely used by millions of people for successful treatment of male sexual disorders BUT all clinical studies and research work claims its effectiveness only with a standardized extract of 45 % Protodioscin … and GENMAX is the ONLY PRODUCT that offers the required dose quantity of effective compound in each Capsule.
25. Protodioscin The main active extract from Tribulus is Protodioscin Protodioscin produce statistically significant increases in the levels of the hormones testosterone Extracts from T. terrestris standardized for protodioscin content have been demonstrated to produce proerectile effects
26. Why Protodioscine? “This clinical trial suggests that even a short period of treatment with Tribulus extract is effective in treating libido disorders and impotence: 50% of subjects diagnosed with decreased libido experienced significant improvement in sex drive and more than 57% of subjects diagnosed with erectile dysfunction or impotence experience improvement in the quality and duration of penile erection”. * Effect of Tribulus terrestris treatment on impotence and libido disordersA.W. NasutioAndalas University, School of Medicine, Padang, Indonesia (1993)
27. Why Protodioscine? Based on our study, we concluded that protodioscin treatment for 60 days at the dose of 3 x 2 capsules per day could create improvements in the quality and quantity of sperms, in sex drive, erection, ejaculation and orgasm qualities in treated males. Significantly, improvements in sex drive were experienced by 80% of males. A more detailed further study, however is warranted to determine the efficiency of protodioscin treatment on other forms of oligozoospermia, and to determine in detail its effect on the male reproductive system. 31. Zinc Zinc and Men Zinc is a critical trace mineral for male sexual function. It is involved in virtually every aspect of male reproduction, including hormone metabolism, sperm formation, and sperm motility. Zinc found in the seminal fluid, increases sperm count and mobility, and blood testosterone levels. Zinc deficiency is characterized by decreased testosterone levels and sperm counts. Zinc levels are typically much lower in infertile men with low sperm counts, indicating that a low zinc status may be the contributing factor to the infertility.
32.
33. Selenium Scientists observed that selenium deficiency lowers the reproduction rates in man as well as in animals. Selenium is needed for production of testosterone. When selenium levels are low, sperm are immobile because the tail is weakened or deformed. In men, selenium is essential for sperm production-almost half of the male body's supply of selenium is concentrated in the testicles and the seminal ducts adjacent to the prostate gland. Selenium is an antioxidant that prevents free-radical damage, works synergistically with vitamin E, and preserves tissue elasticity. In one double-blind trial, low-fertility men who took selenium supplements increased the mobility of their sperm by 100 percent.
34.
35. Vitamin E Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant vitamin. It plays a key role in inhibiting free-radical damage to the unsaturated fatty acids of the sperm membrane. Low levels of this nutrient have been linked to a low fertility in men. In addition, vitamin E has been shown to increase the ability of sperm to fertilize an egg in test tubes. In one study, supplementation with vitamin E decreased the level of lipid peroxide concentration in sperm pellet suspensions. Eleven of fifty-two treated infertile men impregnated their spouses. Increasing the levels of vitamin E in men with low fertility resulted in improving the number and quality of sperm. The sperm had improved mobility and were better able to attach to the unfertilized egg. The result: the spouses became pregnant.
37. Vitamin C Vitamin C decreases sperm abnormalities and increases sperm number and quality. Vitamin C plays an especially important role in protecting the sperm's genetic material (DNA) from damage. Low dietary vitamin C levels are likely to lead to infertility. Cigarette smoking is known to greatly reduce the vitamin C levels in our bodies. RDA of Vitamin C for smokers is twice as much as that for nonsmokers.
38. L-arganine It is an amino acid which is synthesized in the body But often supplementation is needed
39. L-arganine Erectile Dysfunction L-arginine has been used for erectile dysfunction. Like the drug sildenafil citrate (Viagra), L-arginine is thought to enhance the action of nitric oxide, which relaxes muscles surrounding blood vessels supplying the penis. As a result, blood vessels in the penis dilate, increasing blood flow, which helps maintain an erection. The amino acid is also essential in sperm formation. (It is found in the heads of sperm.) Arginine supplementation is often an effective treatment for male infertility.

41. Ginkgo Biloba is a unique species of tree with no close living relatives
42. Why Do People Use Ginkgo? To improve mental function Alzheimer's disease Age-related memory loss Macular degeneration Sexual dysfunction To enhance blood circulation Ginkgo leaves are believed to contain compounds that thin blood and help to improve muscle tone in the walls of blood vessels. This may enhance blood flow. Ginkgo biloba supports blood circulation and may help by increasing blood flow to the penis.
43. Ginseng Ginseng is a slow growing herb, which consists of a light colored root, a single stalk and long oval green leaves Ginseng enhance libido and copulatory performance Ginsenosides can facilitate penile erection
44. Actions of Ginseng Asian Ginseng (Panax ginseng) increase male fertility. It is known to measurably raise testosterone levels and increase sperm count and motility. Ginseng can also increase sexual desire and help alleviate impotence. It is also a natural male tonic that stimulates the immune system.
45. Ginseng’s role in male infrtility Ginseng: Ginseng improves male fertility by fighting impotence, increasing testosterone levels and sexual desire. It also increases the sperm mobility and as well as the sperm count. Ginseng can be consumed as 100mg to 300 mg twice daily as a male fertility food.
51. Ginseng will improve the libido, coital performance , body vitality & satisfaction.
