2. Thank You for Your Membership
• It seems like prices for just about everything keep going up. Believe it or not, one
price that has actually fallen is what HAR members pay for agent dues and fees.
The amount HAR charges for dues and MLS subscriber fees combined has
actually dropped five percent since 1997, while TAR dues have risen 74 percent
and NAR dues have climbed 142 percent in that time.
• Throughout the year, HAR is committed to maximizing the value that you, our
members, receive for your dues dollar. This has been especially true during
these more recent times that have put a tremendous financial strain on so many
of us. To that end, the HAR Board of Directors has voted to maintain the current
dues level for the 10th year in a row. That means you will not be paying a penny
more than last year, or the year before that, or the year before that and quite a
few years before that.
• Only with the strength and support of all of HAR’s 25,000 residential and
commercial members can we remain a successful REALTOR® community, so
thank you for your membership. Know that your Association strives to bring you
greater value every day.
3. Weekly HAR Market Stat
There is a lot to be thankful for this year beyond the traditional holiday bird.
Homebuyers can be thankful for record-low mortgage rates. Sellers can be
thankful for the possibility of getting more money in less listing time. Some
homeowners are thankful for the housing recovery because it may alleviate
underwater situations. Tryptophan doesn't seem to be slowing buyer and
seller optimism.
In the Houston region, for the week ending November 18:
• New Listings decreased 1.1% to 1,701
• Pending Sales increased 36.1% to 1,425
• Closed Sales increased 1.5% to 1,137
