   Stage 1: An Electronic Facility Booking sent
    when a woman provides her LMC with her
    planned place of birth
Concept


   Stage 2: Electronic Facility Admission, transfer
    of agreed content clinical record of the
    pregnancy held by the LMC at the time the
    woman is admitted
Concept


   Stage 3: Electronic Facility Discharge back to
    the LMC. This will include a complete (agreed)
    clinical record that can be loaded into the LMC’s
    version of Maternity Plus from the secondary
    facility’s labour, birth and postnatal record

Privacy

   Messages are transported between the LMC and the
    facility using HealthLink
   Standard HL7 RSD messaging structure
   Acknowledgement message from the facility to the
    LMC on receipt of new booking, update and
    cancellation message

   The LMC as the sender of the information has
    control over the content sent

   Data entry at point of care
   Ease of updating the facility on miscarriage or
    women changing facility for their birth
   Capacity planning by the facility

Present project status

   Electronic Bookings System is operational and
    in secondary testing within Queen Mary
    Maternity centre, SDHB

   There is support and enthusiasm to progress to
    Stage 3
Future developments
