2. Imagine for Design #1
Idea #1
Our materials are cloth ( to line the inside
perimeter of the solar oven)rocks ( to put
on the bottom of the solar oven), and
Cotten ( to put in the side holes)
We need one unit for each material.
The advantages to this idea is that it will not
impact the environment a lot, the food will
be heather, and the materials are all good
insulators.
The disadvantages are that we can only use
one unit each, cloth and Cotten are not
natural, and it will take longer to heat up.

3. Imagine for Design # 2
Idea #2
Our materials are rocks ( to line the
bottom of the solar oven) and newspaper
( to fill the side holes and line the edge of
the solar oven).
We will need 1 unit for the rocks and 2 units
for the newspaper.
The advantages for this idea are that it
uses less materials are used, the materials
are good insulators, and will heat more
quickly.
The disadvantages are that the newspaper
has ink so it would be less heather.

Our heat score our solar oven
maximum Temp. Subtracted from
the control oven: 55 - 55 = 0.
Our time score is the number of
min. It took to cool down which
was 5 min.
Our total impact score was 2
points.
Our total score for the solar
oven is 3 points

Our heat score is our solar ovens
maximum temp. Subtracted from
the control oven: 48°C - 41°C = 7.
Our time score is the number of
Minutes it took to cool down
which was 10 min.
Our total impact score was 0
points.
Our new total score for the solar
oven is 17.

12. Improve for design #1
The total score for our first solar oven
was 3 points.
The parts in our solar oven that worked
well were rocks and Cotten because
over time the rocks were hot and they
helped heat the solar oven and the
Cotten can spread out easily so it can
trap more heat.
The parts that did not work well were
cloth because the cloth was in little
pieces around the box instead of layers.
We are going to try to improve our heat
score
We will improve our heat score by
adding more rocks because when the
rocks heat up they help heat the box if
we add more it might heat up more
quickly.

19. Reflection
Our improved solar oven did better than the original because both
the sand and the rocks helped to heat the box.
The Materials that worked are sand and rocks because the sand
and rocks keep heat inside themselves so they heat the box too.
The material that did not work as well is the cotton because the
cotton was at the bottom of the box but, maybe if we put it higher
on the box it might work better.
If we were to improve the solar oven agin we would keep the sand
and rocks because they are good insulators and add 1 more unit to
the rocks and put the other unit of rocks on the walls.
