Case Study
Background
Oikotie.fi is the largest online marketplace in Finland for finding real-estate, cars and
jobs.  It is owned by Sanoma group which operates in over 20 countries, have nearly
11, 000 employees and annual revenue of 2.4 billion. Oikotie.fi gets over 1.2 million
page views per month and 500 000 weekly unique visitors.
Like most online classifieds, Oikotie.fi offers two ways for online visitors i.e.
prospective buyers to contact advertisers:
 Phone call
 Email via a contact form.
Most buyers typically call between 9am - 6pm meaning advertisers missed calls,
while buyers encountered busy tones and voicemails. Statistics show that
advertisers missed about 20-30% of calls and in some cases buyers were reluctant
to call preferring to keep all communication online.
Secondly, even though email messages were available as soon as they were sent,
not everyone checked their emails regularly meaning correspondence were delayed.
For an eager buyers, such delays were unacceptable.
Solution
Hakema solved this problem by adding a third channel to the Oikotie.fi platform
which allows a buyer to book an appointment with a seller while checking the listing.
Thanks to Hakema appointment planner for online marketplaces, Oikotie.fi has
introduced an efficient way for a buyer to communicate with a seller at anytime.
During the pilot phase, our measurement showed that appointment planner was 2.2
times effective than the standard contact form.

of listings, number of advertisers using the service, number of views, clicks and
bookings.
