2. What is Distribution ?
Distributionis one of the final stages of
production. Having
written, casted, created a film you then
hand over to the distributor who will
market your film and ensure it is on in the
right places at the right times and that
your audience know this. It is key when it
comes to the film being successful and
making money.
3. Distribution...
As the film production companies pass on
the film they would get the film shown via
means such as :
1. Cinema
2. TV
3. Download Sites (LoveFilm)
4. DVD Release
4. Our distribution Company
Our distribution company will have to be a
small one which deals with smaller lower
budget films, an example of this would be
Metrodome Distribution.
Metrodome would be interested in working
with our film because they know the target
audience and how to distribute this genre of
film. We know this because they distributed
the low budget film ‘Shifty’ which also uses
similar themes as ours.
5. Audience
Our film will be predominantly aimed at young
adults and will be most successful in England. The
reason for this is because they will understand the
theme and will in turn be able to relate to
it, however not directly. If possible it would be able
to sell in America because they also have areas
like this where youth crime and drug dealing takes
place. However as a low budget film we do not
feel that we will be able to crack the American
market without a distributor such as ‘Universal’ or
another company with a well known name.
6. New area of Film
When deciding how we shall distribute we will
look at new areas in the market. Firstly we will
appeal and try to sell the film via iTunes. This
could be successful because anyone would
have access to purchase it. We could
advertise to our target audience about the
iTunes opportunity on social networking sites
such as Facebook and Twitter. This way we
could reach a massive range of teenagers
and young adults.
