2. My inquiry
scientists are very excited about
titan harbouring life so thats why i
decided to research its many
similarities to earth
3. What is Titan?
Titan is Saturn’s largest moon and the 2nd largest in the
solar system. it was discovered in march 25 1655 by the Dutch astronomer
Christiaan Huygens, and was the fifth moon of a planet apart from the Earths to be
discovered. the gravity is 1.352 m/52 ( earth is 9.78 m/52) and the distance from
earth is 1,272,000,000. It takes 16 days to orbit saturn
4. A world like our own
In January 14th 2005 the huygens space lander
touched down on the surface of titan. the
pictures reveal startlingly familiar features:
rivers running down hiillsides and emptying
into an ocean along a jagged coastline
5. Ethene and
Methane
The lakes of titan are bodies of liquid ethene and
methane that have been detected by the huygens space
lander. A down side is it is toxic when mixed with
water and air. but maybe an alien life source will be
able to adapt and be able to drink it. it is also colourless
odourless and has no taste
6. ATMOSPHERE
TITANS ATMOSPHERE IS MADE
MOSTLY OUT OF NITROGEN LIKE
EARTHS AND IS THE ONLY OTHER
THING THAT HAS IT IN THE SOLAR
SYSTEM. RESEARCH SAYS TITAN
HAS 15 PERCENT MORE NITROGEN
THAN EARTH (EARTH IS 80% TITAN
IS 95%)
7. Temperature
the problem with the temperature is
its -180 degrees but like before
maybe an alien life source can adapt
to the climate
8. My conclusion
AT THIS POINT IN TIME NO ONE
REALLY KNOWS IF THERE IS OR
WILL BE LIFE ON TITAN.
HOWEVER AS OUR TECHNOLOGY
DEVELOPS WE MIGHT DISCOVER
SOMETHING NEW IN THE
FUTURE.
