1. ALL YOU NEED TO
KNOW ABOUT TOWELS.
Did you know May 25th is celebrated as Towel
Day? I am serious! Apparently, it’s a dedication
to author Douglas Adams in memory of his life-
changing best seller.
2. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the
Galaxy!
Chapter three describes the
psychological and practical
advantage of a traveller carrying a
towel!
Personally and in a more Indian
context.
3. The celebrity connection would be
Salman Khan
(Oh Oh Jaane Jaana) and
Saaawariya Ranbir Kapoor!
Towels are a very important part of
our grooming and bath rituals and
the hardest working garment in use!
4. How much thought do you put into
selecting yours?
Here is a lowdown on all things
towels!
Fabric and Feel
5. Cotton towels have a fabric weight or
density, measured by a GSM (grams
per square meter) count.
The more the density the thicker the
towel.
The cotton could range from
standard to Egyptian.
6. Cotton is the most popular choice,
although more expensive natural
fibers like organic cotton, and bamboo
are also trending.
Modal is a cellulose-based fabric that
claims 50% more absorbency than
cotton and is in use.
7. The latest fad is using microfiber
or engineered fiber, which boast
of very high absorbency.
8. Types of Towels :-
Bath towels
These towels come in two sizes, the
regular bath towels are 24”x42” and
the luxury bath towels are 30”x56.”
The luxury ones are obviously more
expensive and can be found in the
star hotels and spas.
9. Hand Towels
Available in two sizes – 15”x28” and
16”x32”.
These are usually used in the guest
bathrooms and also in kitchens.
10. Wash or Face Cloths
These square towels are meant only
for the face.
Are therefore small in size, usually
12”x12” or 13”x13”.
They could also be used as dishcloths.
11. Bath Mats
Usually made from thick terry, these
towels are placed on the bathroom
floor.
Meant to absorb excess water as you
towel off on them when you step out
of the shower or tub.
12. They vary in size to accommodate
the size of the bathroom and range
between 20”x30” and 24”x36”.
Bath Sheets/Pool Towels/Beach
Towels
These extra large sized towels are
great for outdoor activities involving
water!
13. Take it along to the pool or the
beach, lay on it and use it to towel
off! They range from 34”x60” to
40”x70”!
His and hers maybe?!
Loom has all these sizes available in
a variety of colors and textures.
14. Our Terry Towels are the thickest
and come in solids and stripes. These
make for great bath towels and bath
mats.
The Waffle Towels are thinner and
come only in solid colors.
15. The Honey Comb Towels are even
thinner than the Waffle ones and also
come in a range of solid colors.
Great for hand towels or guestroom
towels.
Our Honeycomb Light/Thinner is
the thinnest towel we have.
16. We use this primarily in the kitchen
and for the thin bath towels used at
the gym or beach towels.
After weaving, our towels undergo a
pre-absorbency washing process in
high temperatures, resulting in high
absorbency in the first use itself.
17. The main job a towel has to do is
absorb moisture but that does not
mean it can’t be a towel that looks
and feels good too!
Play around with styles, colours,
sizes and textures to spruce up your
bathroom and give it a more vibrant
look!
