3. Fascinating Facts
Jessica was born on January 28th, 1986.
• Jessica Ennis is 26 and only this year won the
world indoor championships.
• Jessica is a big fan of Justin Timberlake and
Jay-Z.
• Jessica forced herself to settle for a silver, after
having a terrible performance in the javelin.
5. First steps to athletics...
• In 2006 was her first season as an athlete and
in her first major championships! She won a
bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in
Melbourne which marked the birth of a new
star on the British team. She is now double
World Champion after winning the gold
medals in Berlin 2009 and Doha 2010. In July
2010 she added the European Gold medal to
her ever growing collection.
6. Her Family
• Her dad is called Vinnie Ennis, her mum is
called Alison Powell and she has two sisters
called Carmel, and Natasha.
• Her father was born in Jamaica and her mum
was born in Derbyshire.
• Also, her Dad (Vinnie) has his own business,
painting and decorating whilst her mum
(Alison) is a social worker.
7. How many medals has she won?
Amazingly, she has won three gold medals, one bronze
and one silver.

1st gold= European athletics championships(31/08/10)
2nd gold= IAAF indoor world championships (13/03/10)
3rd gold= IAAF world championships (16/08/09)
Bronze= commonwealth games (Melbourne) (22/03/06)
8. Education!
• Jessica attended the J.J. Pearce high school,
located in Richardson.
• She also went to the university of Sheffield, this is
were she trained to become a professional
athlete.
