2. Genre
Genre boundaries can be flexible, and you can get genre hybrids. An
example is the Terminator 2, I know it is a science fiction because the
terminator is indestructible, also you can see when he scans things. He also
teleports into the beginning. The action is when he beats up the people that
tart on him.
Genre is a system of signs/symbols/ themes by which a particular genre can
be recognised, for example- the Western= cowboys, hats, guns, horses,
mountains, or desert, Indian, cowboys, gunfighter, ‘taming the west.’
Genre=a contract between the audience and film makers. Audiences build
up ‘generic memories’ and can anticipate things happening, so the director
can play on this.
3. western
Western Films is a Genre
based around stories or life
in the late 19th century
when it was the American
West . Most of the western
movies are set in the time
of the American civil war,
which was 1865, and the
early 1900s.
4. Horror
Horror films are a genre
that is designed to
frighten the watchers,
cause panic and bring
out the real fear in
people. These type of
movies tend to be an
adrenalin rush, then
usually a dramatic
ending.
5. Action
Action movies are
energetic, running,
fighting, jumping ect
types of movies. There
are ones that are based
upon real life story and
others that are made up
things, for example The
Dark knight or Mad
Max.
