The Office of Financial Operations
(FMO), acts on behalf of the
Department of the Navy (DON) and
is responsible for financial and
accounting matters. The Under
Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)
directed the Department to
evaluate, correct and test the
controls and supporting information
which facilitate the achievement of
an unqualified audit opinion on the
assessable units and financial
statements. The Department
created eight assessable units
segmenting the environment into
the key material financial processes.
Immersion has provided the critical subject
matter expertise for three of the eight
assessable units: Transportation of People
(ToP), Inter fund (government to government)
transactions, and Fund Balance with Treasury
(FBwT). Interfund segments are underway,
Immersion successfully asserted the
Transportation of People and FBwT segments.
ToP was the first assessable unit to achieve
the required audit readiness standard in the
Navy.
USD(C) affirmed that the Transportation of
People was audit ready allowing the Navy to
proceed into examination by an independent
public accounting firm.
