2. In what ways does you media product use , develop or challenge conventions ?

In this slide you can see a number of shots from different points within the film I feel from these shots and the slides to follow that it is evident that the product I have created Develops and challenges conventions. This is because the music is in a genre of it’s own. The use of live footage is something that the band is quite well known for , they do alot of small venue gig’s and a couple of videos they have done incorporate live footage. The special effects at the live shows helped with the overall outcome and a collaboration of my own effects put into the video have had a nice outcome. A range of shots , long mid and short have been used all though the style of shot really doesn't differ. When at the gig’s filming I had no Idea that they would be put into my media studies work , this is why some there aren't a range of shot styles. I feel that this may be a big downfall within my work. I fell that my work certainly challenges conventions just by the way it was filmed , compared to other music videos there isn't much other than just live clips. For some people they may find this boring and others may really like it. Personally I feel that some more shots of going to and leaving the venue would of been appropriate.

Analyse via theory The theory I will be basing my work on will be a theory of Andrew Goodwins Andrew Goodwin has identified a number of key features which distinguish the music video as a form: There is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics. When the clapping kicks in there is a video of everyone in the crowd clapping , this shows a link between the lyrics and the visuals. During the “trance” part of the music there are more effects being used and during the heavier parts you can see more people in the crowd getting involved. Genres are complex and diverse in terms of music video style and iconography Enter Shikari don't really follow a genre , they base there current albums off there style and then there influences at the time , this is why there is such a huge difference between the albums “Take To The Skies” and “Common Dreads” Record companies will demand a lot of close-ups of the main artist or vocalist The close ups I managed to get weren't really that close up , this was a restriction due to the barriers being put in place

Enter Shikari’s album covers next to my final As you can see the only similarity between the albums is the text being used , I chose the images I got from the live gig because it could be a live gig album only , Enter Shikari have already produced a DVD of this It would of been interesting to see what a similar copy to there albums would of come from , if you look at Enter Shikari’s there is a difference in there style of album art , this is also related within there music.

9. Promotional Poster The ancillary text in the poster is key to the design , and the promotion. As well as using Kerrang two well known fonts being used to add to the promotion side Then theres the fact that Rob , Enter Shikari’s drummer is the focal point , this will draw in any Enter Shikari fan The use of colour is really important because of the text and focal point , if they were too dark the text may not be able to be read , the background drop behind rob is also key as it says Enter Shikari but it’s just a snippet of there current font
