3. Capability of handling areas and testing in audiology and speech language
pathology
Audiology:
Measurements of hearing acuity of clients of all ages, using pure tone audiometry,
immittance audiometry, behavior observation audiometry, brainstem evoked response
audiometry and other auditory evoked potentials.
Administration and interpretation of audiological diagnostic procedure such as TDT,
SISI, ABLB, special tests with immittance audiometry, etc, including tests for
pseudohyperacusis and central auditory dysfunction (CAD).
Infant Hearing screening programme for Hearing loss, including administration of high
risk register OAE’s and other methods.
Counseling regarding prevention and management of auditory impairments.
Prescription of appropriate hearing aids and assistive listening devices using subjective
and objective procedures, including use of measures like the insertion gain.
Instruction for use and maintenance of hearing aids and other assistive listening devices.
Programming of programmable and digital hearing aids.
Auditory training programmes for the hearing aid users, including speech reading
training.
Auditory habilitation/rehabilitation programme for cochlear implant users and
rehabilitation of multiple disability.
Hearing-conservation programmes in industry and other areas measurement of
environmental noise.
Communication and cooperation with team members of rehabilitation.
Calibration of audiometers.
Speech language Pathology:
Screening for various Speech Language problems objectively and subjectively and
making appropriate referrals.
Diagnosis – assessment of various speech language disorders, for nature and severity, in
clients of all ages.
4. Administration of various speech language tests both standardized subjective and
objective.
Counseling patients and their families, regarding nature, cause and management of their
speech-language problems.
Therapy – Speech-language therapy of clients of all ages, (delayed speech and language
with or without hearing loss, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum
disorders, stuttering, cluttering, cleft palate, misarticulation, aphasia, laryngectomy,
specific learning disability (dyslexia), voice problems etc.).
Appropriate use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems for clients
with communication disorders.
Report writing and record keeping for all clients with reference to speech-language
pathology.
