This document provides details of a guided tour of biblical lands hosted by Grant & Helen Spangenberg and Trevor & Sue Barnett from April 27th to May 16th, 2014. The tour will visit sites in Jordan, Israel and Rome related to the Bible, including Petra, Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee and the Vatican. The price is $6985 AUD per person twin share and includes flights, accommodations, meals, transportation and entry fees. Upgrades to business class flights are available for an additional cost. 5. TUESDAY 29th April
TOUR LINK
This morning we follow Moses’ steps along the Desert Highway to MADABA.
See the historically significant Byzantine mosaics at St George’s Church. We
visit MT NEBO, where God showed the PROMISED LAND to Moses. We
continue on to PETRA, visiting Kerak Castle en route.
Once an important city in the biblical kingdom of Moab, Kerak was also home
to the Nabateans, Romans (from 105 AD), and the Byzantines, before the
Crusaders built a castle here. Overnight Petra. (B- D)
6. WEDNESDAY 30th April

Visit The Rose City of Petra. Ride on horseback with Nabatean guides. Choose
to explore the Treasury, Monastery, Roman Theatre, Royal Tombs or the High

THURSDAY 1st May 2014
Making our crossing this morning via the Arava Border into Israel, we visit
Timna and the recreated Wilderness Tabernacle. Continuing north to our hotel
on the Dead Sea. Once you have settled in you are free to enjoy a ‘float’ in the
medicinal waters of the Dead Sea.
Bookings for the mineral rich spa treatments must be made in advance with

7. FRIDAY 2nd May

This morning we ascend to the mighty fortress of MASADA, the site of the last
heroic 3-year stand of 960 Jewish defenders against the Roman Empire.
From its heights (by cable car) we enjoy tremendous views of Jordan and the

8. SATURDAY 3rd May
TOUR LINK
We visit the Park of the Australian Soldier, the British Cemetery where
Australian, New Zealand and British soldiers lay at rest together and Tel es
Saba where the NZ Mounted Rifles and some Australians took the high place.
We also visit Chauvel’s Hill from where we can view the plain where the 800
Australian Light horsemen rode into history with their famous charge and the
Biblical site of Abraham’s well. Overnight Beer Sheva (B-D)
SUNDAY 4th May
After a hearty breakfast we visit ancient JOPPA, Simon the Tanner’s home.
Then we travel north along the Mediterranean coast to CAESAREA, (Acts
23:31- 26:32) site of Herod’s Palace, home of Cornelius and where Paul was
brought to trial. We visit MT CARMEL and Muhraqa, where Elijah called down
fire from Heaven to defeat the prophets of Baal. Pass through the MEGGIDO
VALLEY, the large plain where the final battle of Armageddon is prophesied to

9. MONDAY 5th May
TOUR LINK
Examine the historical area of GALILEE. Today we visit YARDENIT, where those
who wish can experience a symbolic re-baptism in the waters of the Jordan
River. Sail and remember Jesus on the Sea of Galilee (Mark 4:35-41). Rejoice!
Enjoy a traditional St. Peters fish lunch before a visit to NOF GINOSAR Kibbutz,
CAPERNAUM and the ruins of the synagogue where Jesus performed many
miracles (Luke 4:31-37), St. Peter’s House (Luke 4:38-41) and TABGHA (John
6:1-14).
We will ascend The MOUNT OF BEATITUDES (Matthew 5:1-12). Return through
Migdal, Mt Arbel and the Horns of Hittim. Overnight at Sea of Galilee. (B-L-D)
10. TUESDAY 6th May
TOUR LINK
Today we visit Safed, the beautiful mountain top town that is the home of
Jewish mysticism, visiting Jewish synagogues and wandering through a feast of
delightful Art and Craft. From here we journey on to Banias to visit Caesarea
Philippi where Peter made his confession (Mark 8:27-30) and where we share
Communion. Overnight at Sea of Galilee. (B- D)
WEDNESDAY 7th May
Pass through Cana to visit the town of Nazareth (Luke 1:26-38) where we
encounter NAZARETH VILLAGE. From there we make a stop to tour Beit
Shean (1 Samuel 31:1-13). Next we begin our memorable ascent through the
Judean Desert, stopping on our way to look over the ancient road through
Wadi Kelt. From Mount Scopus we will have our first view of the City of God
spread out before us on the Mt of Olives with the view of the old city in the

11. THURSDAY 8th May
TOUR LINK
Awake in JERUSALEM.
This morning we visit the TEMPLE MOUNT (Mosque with the golden dome)
and the WESTERN WALL (Luke 2:21-24), the most sacred site for the Jewish
people. We will explore the HERODIAN TUNNEL, and a scale model of the
Temple Mount during the time of Herod is the highlight of our underground
visit. We may be blessed to see young Israelis celebrating their BARMITZVAH.
We will walk the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount before enjoying lunch in
The Jewish Quarter. In the afternoon we will visit the Temple Institute and the
Burnt House, followed by a wander through the Jewish Quarter via the Cardo
to Mount Zion (Psalm 48). We finish our day with a visit to the Australian War
Cemetery on Mount Scopus. Overnight Jerusalem (B-D)
12. FRIDAY 9th May
TOUR LINK
This morning we will visit the CITY OF DAVID where we view an excellent film
before our tour. In the afternoon we take time to ponder and reflect, at Yad
Vashem Holocaust Memorial. Examine the Shrine of the Book (The Dead Sea
Scrolls) and a model of the ancient city of Jerusalem.

SATURDAY 10th May
Our day starts as we follow the Palm Sunday walk down the Mount of Olives,
visiting Dominus Flevit and Gethsemane(Matthew 26:36-46), including a visit
to Mary’s Tomb. Next we enter the Old City and visit St. Anne’s and the Pools
of Bethesda (John 5:1-10). From there we wind our way along the Via Dolorosa
to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Overnight Jerusalem. (B- D)
SUNDAY 11st May
FREE DAY IN JERUSALEM to wander the streets and enjoy this fascinating city.
For those wanting to join an archaeological dig for the day we will make

13. MONDAY 12nd May
TOUR LINK
We visit The GARDEN TOMB where we celebrate a Communion Service. The
rest of the day is at leisure for last minute souvenir shopping, touring or simply
resting. Later, we transfer to the Ben Gurion International Airport for our flight
to Rome. We will be met by Inner Faith Travel representatives and transferred

TUESDAY 13rd May
See the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navonna with its “Fountain of the
Four Rivers” by the sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter’s Basilica, The
Vatican, The Roman Forum, the Colosseum and St. Paul’s Basilica.

14. WEDNESDAY 14th May
TOUR LINK
Today a chance to see one of the world’s great collections of classical and
Renaissance art. The climax of the tour is the Sistine Chapel. Its walls feature
paintings by Perugino, Ghirlandaio, Botticelli, Signorelli and Michelangelo, and
its ceiling was painted by Michelangelo from 1508 to 1512. Among the many
ceiling panels tracing the creation of the world and the fall of man is the
famous “Creation of Adam.” As you stroll back to the tour bus, our guide will
point out the Pope’s apartment building. A special treat tonight as we venture
close to our hotel to dine in a typical Italian Restaurant, and walk the piazza
after dinner. (B-D).
15. THURSDAY 15th May
TOUR LINK
Our morning starts with a visit to the famous catacombs of Rome. The
Borghese Museum is our next stop. They include Bernini’s statue of David”
confronting the giant Goliath with only a sling. Bernini’s sculpture of “Apollo
and Daphne” depicts the nymph Daphne being turned into a laurel tree,
pursued in vain by Apollo. After two hours of strolling the museum, take a sitdown break with cappuccinos and a quick lunch in the museum snack bar.
Head out the door for a nice long walk through the rest of the green, leafy Villa
Borghese Park and down a long flight of stairs to Piazza del Popolo. It leads to
several pedestrian-only shopping streets.
If you’re feeling energetic, you can stroll all the way down Via del Babuino to
Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Square), the most famous square in Rome.
