Ingham Hospital Dec 2007- 2012
Senior Physiotherapist HP4 Head of Physiotherapy Department
I joined Ingham Hospital, a small regional 30 bed facility, as the sole Physiotherapist. I immediately
identified that my previous incumbent had operated in a department that was ill equipped and operating
under processes and systems that were ill conceived. I set about creating a fully functioning and high
quality physiotherapy outpatient department in addition to a reliable and highly regarded hospital ward
service.
Despite tremendous negativity and resistance to change and an unwillingness to help, I persevered and
slowly started modelling a professional service. In addition to this I networked my services to allied health
professionals, internal departments and all 15 local GPs. Within a relatively short space of time I had
created a reputation of enthusiasm, professionalism, capability and quality of customer service.
I also updated, reconfigured and implemented new systems, protocols and procedures in line with proven
models of physiotherapy service delivery.
