1. Joan's After Care Workshop is an
educational workshop for disabled
students between the ages of 13 to
21 in the heart of Chicago, located on
the Southside at 8456 South
Halsted. The workshop is designed
to prepare this particular age group
for the workforce through social
interactions and work skill
development. What separates
Joan's workshop from other similar
shops is that we work with
companies that will hire disabled
youth for tasks that are suitable for
their abilities. The companies get a
number of tax benefits and trained
employees who are fit and ready to
work. It is mainly an after-school
program that our trained and
certified staff use to reinforce what
was learned in school; meanwhile,
taking a special interest in each
disability to help match able youth

workforce and also a supportive
environment to help manage personal
special needs that each student will
have to overcome to manage
themselves while at work.
