studio album for one of the most
recognizable rappers within the world
today. The genre of the album is rap/hip
hop , this relates to the house style of the
album and this is why there is a large
picture of the rapper jay z taking up a large
portion of the page.
The colour scheme here is simplistic
with there only being two colours, red and
black, and then the white writing above.
The colour scheme works well and
highlights the rapper in the image in the
middle, the colour red is also used on the
CD cover so relates to that and people who
know see the poster then the album will
know it relates. The red could also mean
anger and link to Jay-z’s lyrics where he
regularly raps about things which anger him
in modern society. The colour scheme also
relates to the rapper genre in general with
it being about expressing anger and feeling
towards establishments.
There is only a small amount of text
within the poster and at the top there is a
slogan for Jay-Z who many see as the ‘The
president of hip hop’ when people read this they will know who’s album it is as he is the biggest rapper
in the world. Under the picture which takes up a large percentage of the poster there is ‘JAY-Z’ .Having
his name in bold capitals will bring attention to the album as his name is recognizable. The album name
is underneath that again in capitals. There is a release date 20/11/06, having it in short form makes it
easy for people walking buy to catch the date. At the bottom of the page there is a song which has
already been released this would grab an audience’s attention as they might have already heard the
song and if they like it purchased the album.
The image is of the CD cover of his album and is a portrait close up picture of Jay-Z. Many album
posters use the CD cover as the poster as people can then see the album and buy it after seeing the
poster. The image itself is of Jay z and people would know who he is and take notice of the picture it
takes up a large percentage of the page and the text make u focus on the image. There isn’t use of the
Guttenberg principle with the poster being split into a bit with text and the image above.
